Day 3: Peak District - Edale and Mam Tor
Ever since I visited the Peak District 2 years ago, I've wanted to go back. Back then I only managed a short stroll at Dovedale when we drove up to my aunt's lodge near Matlock Bath. I hoped to go on a longer hike this time. I picked the Dark Peaks, specifically Mam Tor near Edale, since it was easily accessible via train from Manchester. Three of my friends came along.

I originally wanted to go down the other side to Castleton, but we got caught in the rain at the peak, and my friends opted to backtrack to Edale. Pity. So we made our way down and went over to the Rambler Inn for some snacks and sketches before going back to Manchester.

After we got back, my host took me out to the Northern Quarter of Manchester to enjoy an Irish session in a tiny pub. I stupidly left all of my whistles in my friends' room and only had one C fife with me. But no matter. I sketched instead of played as I enjoyed the music.

Day 4: The Symposium Begins!
Finally it begins! The Symposium started off with a meeting for the instructors, of which I was one. I lugged all my luggage from my AirBnb accoms nearby and was kindly given a lift to the provided accoms for instructors and delegates like myself. We were pretty much left to ourselves to sketch around the city (there was a sketchwalk going on, but I only loosely followed it). I ended up along the canals at Castlefield. It was pretty cold as I sat sketching the red-brick buildings and boats along the canal. In the evening we made our way to the Town Hall for the opening ceremony.

After the opening, we went just outside for dinner and sketching. It was already around 8-9pm, but it was still light. It was summer.
